I would cut it back hard. IME it will regrow foliage and look better for the rest of the season. As far as I know, it won't rebloom.

Also, be aware the the Vinca can be a real pest over time. Mine started out as a small patch of ornamental groundcover that has spread to take over way more than I want and trying to overrun more delicate and attractive plants. After years of pulling out huge chunks, I am making a concerted effort to get rid of the rest by any means possible this season,

Hi NHBabs - thanks for your response. I did cut it off about halfway down (I didn't want to cut off all the green) and it looks like it is starting to send up new green growth at the base.

As for the vinca - I can't believe how far and fast the vinca has creeped recently! One area doesn't grow at all - but this section, I keep asking myself "wait, didn't you just trim that back?" Good to know I am not crazy. I have some other Creeping Horror - it isn't Creeping Jenny, but some other female named Creeper that I rip out in handfuls...I was happy to have the vinca over the other nightmare!

I get these red beetles that do that to my mums, grape leaves, basil and peppers every year it seems like. Also shasta daisy's I think.

Oh I thought that was just it's natural death? I just cut mine all the way back, the new growth will look better. A lot of plants are like this, they have their bloom period and then they're done, this one at least puts out some nice new growth. It really makes you appreciate those annuals and especially perennials that just bloom their heads off for months
