Didn't Dove used to have a cucumber melon scent? I see cucumber white tea but no melon. Did I dream this?

    Hey mama!

yes they did... haven't seen it in a while though

Yes, they did...but I hated it. LOL Sorry! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the classic, soft scent of Original White or pink Dove (same scent, different colour).

I hate all their new scents...raspberry, coconut, shea, cucumber.....

I have used original white or pink Dove for DECADES. Swear by it. Even the most sensitive skin loves it!

Yes, they used to have the cucumber melon scent. Larsi I love Dove, but no not all people with sensitive skin can use it. I used it for years and suddenly I found I can't anymore. I itch like a crazy person. No rash just itch. I also can't use any Aveda product. Unfortunately my list grows yearly of what I can tolerate and what I can't.

    @hmorton

If you can't use Dove, try Babo Botanicals · 14 Harwood Ct. · Scarsdale, Ny 10583 · USA or babobotanicals.com. They have a nice line of unscented, hypoallergenic skin care products. I had to stop using Dove as well. I like the baby body wash from Babo Botanicals.

I also can't use Dove anymore, including their sensitive skin formula. Oddly enough, I tolerate Dial Mountain Fresh bar soap just fine. As a side note, I despise body washes. Bar soap or bust!

I used to like Caress as it didn't make my glass shower all soap scummy. After this last 10 pack I bought I can't use it anymore. It makes my shower horrible.

Dove is the only soap that doesn't make everything covered in soap scum.

I don't do bodywash, just bar soap.

I really love Dr. Bonner's castile bar soap in the eucalyptus flavor. It's great for our sensitive skin and non-drying. It smells fabulous and is organic/fair trade.

I will look for Babo Botanicals. Currently I am using Johnson and Johnson Baby Milk bar soap made imported from Russia.

Jase, I'm with you. I prefer bar soap even though it makes the shower/tub harder to clean. I haven't used Dial in over 40 years as well as Ivory. My skin actually cracks and bleeds.

For soaps I have been hitting the local ethnic markets and have found some wonderful inexpensive finds. Here is one that is made in Turkey. It also comes in a smaller bar in a regular wrapper.

Dr. Bronner's or Kirk's Castile or Dial "White" bar soaps only.

Neighbor wants me to try her Nivea body wash sometime.

@hmorton The Dial formula from today is different from 40 years ago. It leaves just the right balance of moisture without feeling dry or oily. For me anyway ;)

I love Caswell-Massey soaps... smell awesome and leave my skin soft and creamy

I'm with Jase. Liquid soap leaves the washcloths dark, and it seems energy efficient to haul bottles of soapy water around the country so we've tried to stop. We don't miss it as much as we thought we would, honestly. We switched to either Neuteogena's clear amber bars which we get in bulk at BJ's, but mostly we use these wonderful ayurvedic bar soaps from Auromere. Amazingly gentle to the skin, and I am allergic to nearly everything in the universe (with 10 pages of test results to prove it, LOL.). The Himalayan Rose is to die for.

Besides from Original Dove, Janice Goat Milk soap is the BEST (I might actually like it more than Dove). Sometimes Amazon has it, and several online vitamin stores sell it as well).

The scent is amazing, soft and natural and the lather is literally luscious and creamy and it leaves the skin SO soft!!!!!!

My favorite is Aveeno Body Wash. The scent is light and creamy. The suds are luxurious and it leaves my skin soft and residue free.

Lately I have been liking "loccitan" which is the men's fragrance bar soap from Loccitane... I love trying new ones so I like this thread!

Thanks everyone...Larsi I don't like bathing with Dove Cucumber/Melon I liked cutting them in pieces wrapping a small piece in a kleenex and putting it in the toes of dress shoes that are rarely worn..keeps them fresh smelling. You use a dryer sheet...me a piece of soap. Hahaha.

TJMaxx is the place to go for soap. They have everything from Chanel#5 to specially formulated for sensitive skin. Most are imported from all over the world. And all are wrapped or in beautiful boxes. Prices are around 4 dollars a bar. I expecially the Au Lait Milk bars made by Scottish Fine Soaps.

TJMaxx has Hugo in different scents I've never tried it.

    I really like this one

    And this one

    Mike likes this

None of these are my pics. I could spend all day in their soap section lol

Love goat milk soap. I buy it occassionally from an Amish women who makes it in her kitchen. Uses flowers and herbs from her garden to scent the soap.

Larsi I just checked the link you posted and did you know that they also sell laundry detergent?

I also love the soap section at TJ Maxx. But using them is hit or miss with my skin. Lately they have been selling sets of essential oils. I am tempted.

Heather most laundry detergent uses synthetic perfume..real essential oil comes from the plant. If your sensitive to lets say lavender detergent that doesn't mean your sensitive to essential oil in lavender. Many people are sensitive to the synthetic scents but not the real thing...am I making sense lol.

As usual I'm late to the party. Now that I fully awake... I have dry skin and even Dove(and I like the one with shea butter) will dry my skin. I love, love Shea Moisture raw shea butter body wash with frankincense and myrrh. There is whole list of no additives. the ones I like are no phthalates , no synthetic fragrance, no synthetic color and NO animal testing. If using a wash cloth, it will make it gray, but that's okay. I have several that use just for this and sometimes I use one of those scrubby thingies. It smells so light and my skin loves it.

I love Dove and Caress, but normally don't buy it because I am not the only one who would use it and it would go away so fast. Guys will use anything that is close by, so my husband used it too.

@MamaPinky, I too love Au Lait Milk bars by Scottish Fine Soaps.

Only problem is that they are HUGE and I end up dropping them over & over in the shower when trying to use them. They do however smell awesome and leave the skin smooth, soft and lightly scented!!

Larsi yes they are huge 10.5 ounces lol....triple milled for mounds of creamy lather...I've cut them into 3 but takes some muscle that you have more than fair share of lol.

I am going to try the Au Lait Milk bars by Scottish Fine Soaps. By the way I take a serrated knife and cut those giant bars of soap. After badly bruising the top of my foot because I couldn't hold onto the darn bar, I cut them in thirds.

By the way have you ever seen someone buying a cart full of soap at TJMaxx? I did more than once and I swear they were stocking some small boutique store.

The soap that sandy1616 makes is absolutely fantastic. Mine has cocoa in it I think. Love it. Must get some more from her soon

Pat, yes our Sandy makes wonderful soap. I have loved everyone she sent to me. I rarely order online as I just don't have a safe means of paying otherwise I would, and where is Sandy???

Heather,a buggy of TJMaxx soaps...Hmm either they were stocking up for Xmas gifts or selling it themselves. I should look on EBay and see what's being sold. Lol.

I love the Au Lait Milk liquid soap and keep it in the guest bath. I have had good luck cutting large French bars with my wire cheese cutter -- one of those marble boards with the wire-harp thingie you press down? Just go slowly so you don't break your wire.

And for my fellow cheapskates, I love the mesh soap saver bags. They exfoliate nicely, and keep those slivers together. Amazon sells softer versions, but I like these rough ones.

I haven't used bar soap in years. I picked up unscented Dove bar soap for DS as per dermatologist...I tried it on my face an it left it feeling stripped. Even though I think the dove was directed for the couple spots of eczema sons has on his eyelids and neck, his acne has seem to cleared up some since just using the Dove.

heather, when you wrote "Aveda" above, did you really mean Aveeno? Or did you really mean Aveda, please.

Pat I meant Aveda. If I use the shampoo my legs itch like crazy and if I use it more than once in a week everything but my head itches like crazy. I know not logical but that is what happens. Neutrogeana anything is a huge Nono for me. I get a swelling disfiguring rash that requires meds.

heather, which SHAMPOO does NOT irritate your scalp, PLEASE. Sorry everybody, I know this is OT.

Pat..its not OT...feel free to talk as you please...

I am gonna give you all a hoot....my Chip the youngest boy likes Dove liquid soap. I can not afford to be buying this liquid as than everyone will use it sooo I have been using a recipe online to turn Dove bars into liquid. .its very simple and WORKS...shread 2 bars of Dove (your choice of scent) add it to 4 cups of boiling distilled water, turn to simmer, stir frequently until its a smooth creamy liquid, absolutly must all be disolved, but stir gently so as to not make it all sudsy. Turn off heat and cool completely. Once cool pour into clean empty shampoo bottles ect...let sit with lid off overnight and next morning it will have thickened to the perfect consistancy. AND wonder of wonders it has not turned my facecloths grey...brilliant. And it smells like Dove bars which IMO Dove liquid does not smell like the bars. Ok folks now you can stop wondering if Mamapinky is nuts...its an established fact.

mamapinky please be careful when adding tap water to anything that will sit for any period of time. Plain tap water will grow bacteria. Yes, even if it is boiled first or treated by your local water company. If you want to add water to your bar soaps use distilled. I am also a soap maker and this is one of the first things I learned.

Donna..lol...reread my post..I use distilled water lol

Eta that why a few years ago when someone was adding water to their Downy I told them make sure its distilled.

Pinky, I LOVE that idea! I love the smell of old fashioned Dove!

Pat, if you have a delicate scalp, try ANY of the Soapberry Products from Tree-to-Tub at Amazon. I just switched my husband to Soapberry's peppermint shampoo since he often washes his hair twice a day, and the chemical exposure worries me. But you might want the unscented.

I've been using this for the last year.

I used to use Dove and liked it but it's been about 5 years ago now since I read that bar soaps leave scum in the shower. I switched to Soft Soap liquid and was happy, except it left those ugly gray spots on the cloths. Since I wipe down all the walls and glass of my shower after use, I figured scum was a non issue and went back to bar soap, which I like using because of the action of lathering up the cloth. I have trouble with some soaps and not others. I love the gentle nature of the CaraVe.

I ddidn't know CeraVe made a bar soap...I must get one. I love the cream as does Amiee...Thanks Enduring

Enduring is it scent free? Or a mild scent?

Pat currently I am using Bed Head "Dumb Blond" even though I am not blonde more light brown. It has not bothered me. Bed Head products in general though heavily scented don't seem to be a problem. I have used Suave not sure which kind with no issue. But I truly find little issue with the non-natural products. I also don't know sometimes what is bothering me. I itch constantly, often suddenly and without any kind of rash or irritation. And then it is gone. Certain products like Ivory bar soap, Dawn dish soap, Aveda, Neutrogena and Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen can't touch my skin or I will have a physically noticeable reaction.

The strangest part is I can use something for months with no issue and then bam. Also it almost always is my legs that react first to shampoo, not my head.

I often buy little sample bottles when I can find them before I buy large bottles just to test.

Mamap the scent is very light or nearly absent. I get it at target.

    Walmart has it too,
