We wanted to have engineered hardwood put in our first floor but when they came out to examine our floors, we were told that a floating floor would be our best option. Currently there are carpet tiles glued to a subfloor that makes up 80% and the other 20% is concrete under the carpet tiles. The floor is not level between the two areas and they said they would need to glue the hardwood and would not be able to level out the floor. They also said that the glue alone would cost over $1000. I am disappointed and wondered if this is really my only solution?
