That is a lot of popsicle sticks.

They're wood so they make a better mulch than a compost ingredient. Should be fine.

They will resist water absorption unless fully saturated before using as a mulch. And I would be inclined to break them up as well.

Now i want a Popsicle! you should take them and stick them into the pots and make swirling or geometic patterns with them... like a permanent Dominos display.

I use popsicle sticks as labels for my starters in late winter early spring.

I would think you'd have died from "brainfreeze" or comatose from diabetes from eating enough popsicles to make mulch.

I'd be colorful though...unless you're the one that eats all the red ones and leaves a freezer full of green popsicles!

It's a great, green idea! Add wooden toothpicks, wooden ice cream paddles or spoons, bamboo skewers, and probably some other things I haven't thought of, to your list of things that you can use in mulch. As someone said, probably better to break them to expose more surface area and, in the case of bamboo skewers especially, minimize the risk of stepping on a sharp point

I am doing this right now. I am using them in my planters and it has worked fantastic. I had old craft sticks I was going to get rid of, and came up with this idea. I broke them apart using pliers little by little and spread them around my planter with some colorful stones. Believe it or not they are super super cute!
