How would an arbor look here?

Hi there,

I have a patio off the side of my house that connects to a driveway. With little kids running around I'd late to put in a gate to keep them contained while also separating the spaces visually. Please let me know what you think about me putting an arbor and gate, as pictured here, in the section below where see can see that I marked with the pieces of wood.

IMO, with a living fence, you need something more substantial than just a gate. I think the arbor would look better otherwise it will look just like a baby gate.

I think it would be charming. Like a secret garden. It also would keep the neighbor from looking in your sun room

Lovely! I think it would look great. I like in your sample photo how they have the river rocks on the side ground, it would discourage anyone from walking around instead of through.

I was hoping that the arbor would be big enough to reach the shrubs but it's just short so I will have to fill that space in since I want to prevent kids from running out. I will have to put a short shrub where the red flowers are and maybe a matching one on the other side (the boxwood that's currently there may have to go).

Easy enough to extend your beds and just add some more shrubbery.

Do you all think that it fits in nicely. I don't want it to be too loud and/or gaudy. I'm sure it will look fine but like everything else, you never know until it's in place.

I think it fits nicely but I know what you mean. I can not see the style of your house but, I think that if this arbor style is too detailed for you, there are several different designs that you can consider. Also, if you get this one in and you want to blend it in, plant a flowering vine on the side.

You can add a section of matching fencing on each side of the arbor to extend it a bit.

If you get enough sun plant a rose on that side. Children don't like rose thorns.

Is it ok that the arbor would be angled the way it is? There's really no other way to place it based on the current walkway/driveway/shrubs but I'm not sure if it will strange angled the way I have it laid out.
