Will this work in a bedroom with an 8ft. Ceiling?

The glass globes are clear. Are you going to hang this over a table? Recommended 9ft ceiling, otherwise you can also take off the rod and hang directly to the canopy with a hock that is included.

What is a hock? I want to hang this in my bedroom. I don't want it to look like a Flushmount.
