CandiBiles I think you might be right on with this color and shape. Here's how it looks against the dark brick.

Maybe not strictly charcoal, but what door seems: aged pewter, warmer than charcoal...

what about just below mantel??? like entry has half dark / half light paint....

is there also a kitchen in view? if so, I'd simplify even more - have upper paint match [basically] the walls' paint color..... ?!

I was assuming but don't know - that other metal looks could be used as your photo showed [around box only].....

seeing width of a panel sheet of hot-rolled, maybe that would echo well the look of railing... bring industrial a bit to brick.... I don't mind brick! With a designer/ or design thought out.... maybe brick could be altered to be less red..... doesn't have to be charcoal does it....would it seem dark as charcoal with the lighting in the plan?

To me the whitewash doesn't hit the modern look. It looks farmhouse. Again, the TV would stand out. The rolled steel looks good with the charcoal, although it does remind me of a double oven. I definitely love the charcoal, it's more original.

White is not bad, just make hearth charcoal or gray (darker)

Here is i changed wood mantel on steel one.

The metal is a wonderful look, but this is a very high end approach and will be quite expensive. For the size of you living room area, I think keeping things simple would be wiser. JMO
