Kitchen Update

Still in progress with new floors and toe kick coming- updated our 1981 kitchen by painting our cabinets, adding crown and new hardware, a new backsplash, counters and appliances.

We repurposed the peninsula cabinet by moving it to the opposite kitchen wall and adding an extra 6 feet of countertop - perfect for prepping and serving. The faux beams were torn down, and I added a large chalkboard with calendar to act as our message center.

The new shelving next to the upper and lower cabinets are the perfect place for larger items and cookbooks. Can't wait for the new floors to finish out the space.

It looks so good! I love that you kept the cabinets. What is the counter top material?

Thanks! The countertop is actually just a laminate with a gray concrete pattern from Ikea. They're surprisingly durable, but when we can afford a full remodel we'll go with actual concrete or stone.

I honestly love it with the current flooring! It looks so much more spaces now too!

Thanks so much! The current flooring is laminate from 1981 when the house was built, and has seen better days for sure. The unpictured side has a section missing due to a repair we made to the subfloor as well.

We're thinking of staying close to the same color family with wood or wood-look tile though, maybe just lightening or warming it up a little.
