Please help me identify this disease

I am new to growing squash. I planted 5 seedlings (Asian/Japanese pumpkins) and the vines all grew properly. Lately, I started to see some yellow substance oozing out of the main stem near the root, and it's obviously restricting water because the leaves started to turn yellow. I pulled 2 of them out completely, and are left with 3 plants. However, I am now seeing 2 more with the same problem, and I am wondering if there is any way to save them or should I just pull them out too to save the last one? I had a lot of cucumber beetles and but I can't find any reference of bacterial wilt looking like the yellow substance I have.

Please see the pictures of what I pulled out. First one shows how close it to the roots, 2nd one looks at the inside. Please help. Thank you.
