Freshly painted Dining Room, need some fresh ideas..

I recently painted my dining room and would love some ideas to finish it off. I don't want to cover the windows up and no changing the light fixture, table (10ft), chairs or the picture. There are 2 openings into the dining room. The walls are Benjamin Moore Nickle. Thanks in advance!

It's pretty but austere. I would add some life with a beautiful tall floor plant, some warm copper accents in the centerpiece, art, or plant pot, and more artwork with greens and copper.

Some ideas for following up with more copper. I think your art is hung a tad too high. Its very nearly at door height. Check to see that its centered 5' above the floor. Your light fixture might need to be lowered some and put on a dimmer switch. It should be from 30-36" above the table. Do you have cushions on the black chairs? I can't tell much about the end chairs either. I'm thinking the room needs a pop of color and/or some pattern to add life to it. If you can't reupholster the end chairs, add cushions to the others and match a pair lumbar pillows to them for the end chairs. You have room flanking the windows for some smaller stacked art pieces since you don't want drapes.

Thank you very much for your insight....I like the word austere! I'm going to use that word, it does indeed describe the room at present. I'm going to lower the picture and light. I also like the slim side table!

Change the chandelier for a big impact or add a collection of ceramic vases as a centerpiece on the table. Good luck!

What would you suggest as a change in the chandelier..

I would update the chandelier it would make a huge difference right off the bat... Understand you are not wanting to do so, but maybe a consideration.

Lower the art, and add more on other walls. Hang full, lined, ceiling(bulkhead) height drapes.

I suggest a linear pendant over the table - ylighting has some that are nice. http://www.ylighting.com/category/linear-suspension/_/N-16yuw

Kimberley, Just know the size chandelier you will need so you get the proper size for the table..... I would try to keep it less heavy in appearance. That's my opinion.

Hang a framed mirror under your picture that is the same length and width.

Hang a curtain rod across the total length of your window wall. Add curtains that only stay to the side,of the window, never actually covering the window.

A super large vase or planter. Some form of greenery but not flowers.

Thank you all very very much!!!!! Love this site and all the comments. You certainly can't ask for advise and then not go with it. So, new light fixture, new curtains, maybe a rug, new side table under the lowered picture and away I go. I will load pictures when it is finished. Opinions are indeed appreciated!
