Need help with granite!!

I really need some suggestions on whether or not I should keep the granite I just installed. I have an open concept house and was wondering if the granite is too grey and white for my furniture which is brown and on warmer side. Also do my floors have too much beige for the granite?? Please help I'm so confused. Not sure if I should replace granite, floor, furniture . So confused

Yes I agree. I needed the paint changed before I can pic backsplash.
Ok now as for dining table, does something like this go in my house? I would do a dark grey top and white bottom Or would you do an espresso table?

I think you should get what you love. At this point you know what you like and you have seen how to make everything work with your dark cabinets and get the look you want. Time to have some fun with this.

Espresso - please, then the lighter chairs or the gray. Do not do a white bottom.

Shirlpp, I don't know why my designer is recommending a dark grey top with white bottom. So you guys think I should do one color??

I hope you didn't replace the granite. It's beautiful!

My vote would be also no white bottom and grey top.

when you say paint for the dining room, don't you mean paint for the whole top floor, living room, hallway, and dining?

Also, I'm sorry but if you want to use your designer's idea, then do it! I mean EVERYONE on here has disagreed with her choices, but you keep touching the flame. So, either move on from this person or use her ideas. It's getting the point that you are snuffing the flames with how many times you have touched the fire lol.

Now if you paint gray, you need contrast hence the dark table and tying the table to the cabinets, the chairs to the walls.

Yes i mean paint the whole house. Ill post pics later when it's done. Im personally happy so far with my decisions on paint color. I am definitely tying the chair color with the paint but I'm extremely torn about the table. I know everyone said the brown colored table and I'm just trying to figure out why she is suggesting the dark grey top with white bottom. Maybe she wants to tie in my white fireplace? She is looking to do a restoration look in my house. Does this make any sense?

no, it doesn't . you don't live in a catalog. Unless you want a cookie cutter look. Also a white bottom table makes 0 ZERO sense to me.

Ok. I'll probably do a dark espresso table with fabric chairs. I don't think I would look that look either with a white bottom. Would you consider dark grey like this in my house?

That dark gray table is beautiful, but will it be too much grey on grey again?

You should consider how that table will look with your floors and in relation to your kitchen cabinets. I think you should stick to the same finish as your cabinets.

How about this - Let the designer do a restoration look in her own D _ _ _ house!

I really like your granite. So glad you changed the floors instead of the granite. Good job on staining the wood floors. I think they look so much better.

For your backsplash, I like the (white?) tile that is in the middle.

For your table, one color. I like a darker color table now that you stained the floors. I didn't think I would, but I do like the dark gray table.

Good luck! Keep posting pictures. It's kind of fun to see the progress.

So do you think the dark grey table goes with my cabinets?

Why don't you compromise. Table that coordinates with cabinets, and dark grey chairs?

Just wanted to let you know Macy's has sale going. these are $4-599.00

I like the espresso color for the table and white subway tile for the backsplash. I love your dark cabinets and their timeless look. You have gotten great feedback from some of the best here and I am hoping to see a resolution before your last child leaves home for college. Carry on!

Lol, that was well said !!!! She's even working with a designer all along and still asking everyone's opinions. Just please yourself and get the project done! No one knows your style, likes or dislikes. Move it, move it, move it !!! Haha

    Anything new Janene?

I was on vacation and returning home late today. When I get back I will post pics of my house redone with floors, paint, etc. the couch I have is defective so company is returning it. I need a reclining sectional but do you think the grey one that I gave if the right color for my cabinets since it’s open concept?
I’m also in the process of looking for a dining room
  • 8 years ago

I think it's fine with your cabinets. Especially when you get rug and decor in place. I wouldn't go darker.

    Ok thank you.
Ok so here are some pics with floors refinished, fireplace painted and walls repainted and pic frame moldings added. Now I need to finish furnishing the house.
Also here is a pic of my cabinets with the grey couch I have which is being exchanged for being defective so I’m not bound to it. Do you guys feel the grey blends with my cabinets? I feel like somethings off but maybe it’s me overthinking
  • 8 years ago

The couch is to casual looking with your wall trim. I would go with a couch and 2 chairs

Your home looks very formal and beautiful with your updated walls.

Janene, the color of your sectional is fine, you are limited by color due to your want of recliners. Most come only in black brown and gray.

Kulrn, I meant is the style too casual for my house now? Your right about limitations. I do want a grey couch but I’m just wondering about style
  • 8 years ago

You can get away with the sectional(would not be my choice). Basically how formal do you want to make the sofa/sectional area. Do you want it so formal that it is uncomfortable? I do not think so.

I agree with shirlpp. Your not going to find a more formal recliner sectional, but you can make it work. Is this your only livingroom space, or do you have another? I see it as basically open floorplan family room. You should decorate around your family needs.

Hi, yes this is my only family room that we spend most of our time. I guess it makes the most sense to decorate around it .

Ok so I found a picture online with cabinets that are very similar color to mine and the Person has a dark wood table and to me it doesn’t look good which I was I’m hesitating on what to get. I feel like she tried to match the table to her cabinets and did a poor job. What are your thoughts?

It's a lot of dark. Your space is lighter and more open. I don't think you have to exactly match the cabinets. That picture would look better with light chairs I think.

See I’m not liking it at all. What are some other alternates in wood color that would look good in my house?
I love the color of the second table.
Keep the granite it goes well with your cabinets. The floor in the kitchen right now has to much beige in it. Replace it with the wood. When doing a complete remodel you have to take into consideration every element. Start with what’s most important to you and go from there. When I did my kitchen I knew I wanted cherry cabinets. That was my starting point. I worked from there choosing what went best. Bringing samples into my home under my light before making a selection.
Don’t worry this will work out. Change your flooring and sofa and take your time deciding.
