The columns behind the range are great. Functional, but they also create a separation, but it's open too if you know what I mean. Love it all, and you met the challenge of a condo reno!

That is one fantastic transformation! The finishes you chose are great. The window film seems like a nice solution to what otherwise must feeling like living in a fishbowl with a public walkway so close.

Toronto vet had to come look again :) Agree with mtnmom "dramatic" reno before and afters from traditional white builder grade to cool dark upgrade! Hoping my white to dark does the same! Love all your choices and such a cool space to do it in! It took a lot to get there...now enjoy!

Can you post a link to your LG range? Is it a double oven with induction? I have their electric double oven that's a few year old. I would like induction but want to keep the double oven.

Nicci, mine is not a double oven. I have a Breville Smart Oven (which I have loved for years) and so had no need for a double oven as part of my range unit. My range is this one: http://www.lg.com/us/cooking-appliances/lg-LSE4617ST-electric-range, though I paid quite a bit less than that MSRP.

Thanks for all the great comments. Pipdog, the dining area is actually painted the same colour as the rest of the kitchen: Benjamin's Moore's Camouflage. I liked it so much, I painted my living room to match, but lightening Camouflage with 35% white. The light fixture is from Home Depot; I think the bulbs might have cost more than the fixture itself, LOL.

From claustrophobic to ahhh. Great use of space and light. Getting rid of the huge soffit and extending the cabinets to the ceiling really makes the ceiling look higher vs squishy. Although neither "before" flooring was ugly on its own, the two of together in such a confined space make one question the esthetics of the original designer. Your solution is much better and much less intrusive. Great job!

Love the interior of the stove. The purple is even better than the blue in your link.

The fridge is a KitchenAid; I was looking for a bottom-freezer, single door fridge without a water dispenser, and they're not easy to find. Well, at least not in SS and good quality. I think it's this model: KRBR109ESS

Thank you very much. I think that was the one I was looking at yesterday and was impressed with the weight of the door and the indsides not being flimsy. I looked at several over 2000. that were rinky dink. That helps me with the decision.

Hillary, that's exactly what I thought - the build seemed solid, the drawers didn't rattle, etc. I also like the rubberized liners of the shelves in the door to help keep it clean. I do find the freezer compartment is kind of inefficiently designed and holds less than I would like, but since I have a chest freezer, that's not really a problem in my case.

Now that you've had the LG induction range for all of two weeks :) , do you find yourself wanting more levels than the 10 it has? The number of cooking levels seems to be the big difference in induction cooktops/ranges. Does the LG appear to allow you to use "between" levels like 1.5 or 4.5?

I love looking at your new kitchen. To me, it's so calm and bright. The 3M film is a brilliant idea!

mtnfever, it does not allow in-between levels (it sort of slides into one of the numbered spots), but I haven't really found a need for more subtle adjustment than the 10 levels provided. Maybe because there's already so much more flexibility than with a standard electric - I'm already giddy with the power of adjustment that I didn't have before.

I did go get a portable unit to get used to induction and it only has 10 levels so I'll be able to tell if what I cook gets along with only 10 levels. And no knobs, the portable has no knobs! I guess I'll find out if the touch controls will make me crazy or not lol.

I love the compost/trash cabinet, your cabinet doors and stain, those pillars (bravo for making something required work so well and look so great!) and your frosted windows (how clever of you, allowing the light, keeping your privacy!), and forgive me, but I am infatuated with the purple interior of your range! What a neat surprise it must be every time you open it!

TVet, I'm late to this thread but the transformation is remarkable and so beautiful. You'd never know it was the same space. I have BM Camouflage in my bedroom and it's a lovely color (from someone who clings to Antique White everywhere else).

I missed this reveal as well. That Caesarstone countertop is gorgeous. I can see why it was love at first sight. and I love all the natural light you get in there. Congratulations!

Thanks to the late arrivals. It's now been about 4 months and the only problem I have is an inefficient dishwasher wrack -- a very minor worry. I miss my kitchen when I'm away on business!

Glad this got bumped up - missed it first time around but WOWZER that's a great kitchen! It's sleek and modern but still warm. Love the counters, all the crisp details and the light - wow.

Very nice- coincidentally we have the same silicone drying rack and Bosch DW. It really doesn't fit much! I used to run mine once a week, but the unexposed element is nice. Glad I found the Speed60 option.

I stuck with the American dishwashers because of the difference in how much they hold. I keep my mouth shut about it because everyone luuuurves their Bosches and Mieles. The Bosch my neighbors have require prerinsing, which I refuse to do, too.

I am envious of your trash drawer.

The trash drawer is a "Euro-Cargo" 4 bin (I use three for trash/recycling/compost and the fourth I use for empty bags); I think Hafele carries them in the US (possibly among others). When it is pushed in, there is a metal "lid" on top of the whole unit -- you can kind of see it in the dark in the photo.

Do you still love your LG induction range? Costco has them on sale and I'm thinking of ordering one.

I don't have the LG, but I do have the Kenmore Elite and have had since early 2016. Love. It. !!! The only downside is that I couldn't use it during our recent 4-day power outage (CA fires). I'd still do it again - that's what Coleman stoves are for :-)

Just organizing delivery and installation for the LG induction model LSE4616 which looks just like the one in your reveal... I'm wondering about the installation, and in particular the gap between the counter and the appliance. Since it doesn't have an overlap, do you have anything to prevent spillage in the (very small) gap between the counter and the stovetop?

Chris, for ours the installers used silicone to fill the gap. The correct height was done with shims.

Thanks, Cheryl. That's what I'm hoping for -- to get the height adjusted so that the edge of the stove top will be slightly elevated. I'm curious about why your installers needed to use shims. I was hoping the level-adjusting feet will be enough to raise the top about 1/2" as our counters are slightly taller (36 1/4") than typical.

I do not, and I occasionally pull it out to clean in there.
