Kale with two stems

last modified: 9 years ago

i noticed one of my kale plants has two main stems coming out of it.
seems pretty rare as i have well over 20 kale plants in the garden and first time i've see this. it originally sprouted as one plant, then the Y split came after.

first i thought, well good, double the kale?
but i've noticed a slight side-effect from this. the kale plant wilts slightly in the sun, while the others do not. i guess the roots can't handle water uptake for two plants.

the plant is still young, probably a month old and 12 inches in diameter.. should i cut the other off, or will it eventually grow out of this problem when roots are bigger? anyone ever have two kale plants like this?
