Your first lantern works well... the black metal one I'm not seeing with the light fixture you posted first.

These two above have no glass which makes it a bit easier with the cleaning especially in a kitchen... any of the three would look great.. these two or your first lantern posted!

Not a fan of the globe shaped one for the room you describe. LOVE the lantern. The third one feels more like a foyer fixture to me. Also love the ones Porter posted and I totally agree with her about avoiding glass if you can.

Ballard Designs has some really nice glass-free fixtures that could work well with the look you are going for.

Do you have a photo of the eating area or the furnishings for the eating area?

Height of the ceiling and size of the table.. is it in close proximity?

The lanterns such as above can be found in silver/gray or black a well as the gilded gold or burnished gold...Darlana and Millennium come in a handful of sizes.

This is the
layout. We have extended the length of the island one foot. It will
be 7'9" x 3'8". The "New Breakfast" table is
below. Hooker Furniture, Sorella Collection. It is 54" without the
leaf. I'd like the fixtures above the island and table to coordinate.
Not sure what color would be good...we will have a white farmhouse sink and
stainless faucets, pot filler, but was thinking of introducing a new metal for
light fixtures.

Antiqued silver or aged bronze or black would be my choice. Not sure why I've never been partial to the bronze however... it usually has a hint of muted brass/goldy tone to it. I think the antiqued silver as above or burnished silver is a nice look or black iron however not heavy in appearance as in a lit of large thick black metal.

I was leaning towards the same colors...aged bronze or black...I thought they would tie in nicely with the darker island. Thanks for your suggestions on dining fixtures! I appreciate it. I had found this one which is similar, but perhaps too "curly" with the more straight line cage lanterns?
