These are cherry cabinets with a toffee stain and brown glaze.

I really like the coloring of these cabinets. We are in the process of stripping and restaining our red oak kitchen cabinets; trying to get away from the orange coloring. We have made lots of stain samples (with & w/out prestain, and with 3 coats of polyurethane), but nothing really comes close. Can you achieve a similar look with oak? I wonder if the glazing is the key. In all our research on staining, this is the first I've heard of glazing.

Glazing is an opaque finish that is wiped over painted or stained cabinets. It hangs up in recesses and adds richer tones to the final product.
