Perhaps the constant watering?

How much water each time?

And why constant?

In a container?

Yes in a huge pot. Perhaps watering every 3days and each time watering till water comes out from the holes underneath. Do you think its because of too much watering?

do you water simply on the schedule.. or do you stick you finger in the pot and FIND OUT if it needs water???

where is it.. and whats the ambient weather been since spring ...

This is in Japan. Its been hot and occasionally wet. It is extremely humid now. Basically when the surface of the soil gets dry l give it water.

I am on my fourth tree and have no feel for whether I'm providing (or not) adequate moisture. Most challenging tree for me. My last attempt is on its 3rd summer and growing inground. And yet, i still don't feel like I'm "out of the woods" with respect to this tree. I can say my previous ones died from overwatering.
