What is everyone's favorite laundry detergent/softener combo. Looking for one that smells great and really works too! Thanks!

    Whites: Persil Pearls
    Colors: Persil 2-in-1
    Darks: Cheer Powder
Fabric Softener: Costco's Kirkland Signature Ultra Soft (Refreshing Scent)

Sidenote: Larsi, why does it seem that you can't Google search or Costco.com search the liquid fabric softener anymore?

    Favorites for fragrance:

    Ariel from Wal-Mart

Persil Perls that I can't get any more. A lot of people didn't like the smell but I did although I found that it would sometimes (not always) go funky smelling smelling on long soaks (8-10 hours overnight) but rinsed clean w/ no lingering funky smell. Switched to Tide W/ Bleach and it developed the similar stink on an overnight soak w/ one load. I think it depends on what is in the wash...I suspect some of DSII's cotton t-shirts that he wore to work out in. I swear that you can wring water out of some of his work-out clothes after he's worn them. (He usually wears synthetic dri-fit type stuff but occasionally a cotton one creeps in.)

Is Ariel a liquid or powder?

@212508 the Mexican Ariel that Jody is referring to is the powder. You can get Ariel in liquid, but it's the not the same as the powder in ingredients or performance.

I use the powdered Ariel (from Wal-Mart).

Love the smell of A&H with oxi (Fresh Scent). Pretty darn good performer.

    Purex Crystals (Fabulously Fresh).

I have yet to LOVE a fabric softener since P&G killed the TRUE April Fresh Downy.

for a liquid that is gentle, without enzymes I really like the smell of Purex Natural Elements. I use it on my handwash cycle. Love the smell.

How would you guys describe the smell of the Ariel powder at Wal-Mart? I am looking for one that smells like old-school Cheer, clean, but with a slight white musk or powder element to it. The new Cheer powder smells okay but just generically "clean" to me - no softness... I discovered the "Grab Green" Gardenia pods a while ago at Safeway, and they smelled AMAZING at first (like this scent I am describing) but when they changed their packaging something went funky with the scent - they smell like Michael Kors perfume now. :-( Why oh why do they change stuff on us all the time?? @larsi_gw @mamapinky0 @jody
