Depends on how the home is built and orientated. The short answer is that windows are still the weak in the wall assembly and if this is your forever home, I don't think it is a bad investment. This all depends on what they are charging for said upgrade.

Thank you. At this point one contractor quoted 9k (he didn't want to include the Palladian in his quote) and the other 13k for replacing 10 windows with triple pane. I will ask them for a quote on double pane as well. We live in a neighborhood of 400 homes that were built in 2000-2002. Different builders of course, but there have been signs that corners were cut among us. Ours is a drafty house. We already had the attic insulation beefed up, but not seeing a significant mprovement.

I have triple pane glass and you can tell the difference in the noise suppress and HVAC expense.
