Too vague a question, but you don't put the overhang for seating on the side you want to access regularly for storage on a daily basis. Nobody can advise anything with no kitchen plan, no dimensions . It's spitting into wind. Get a kitchen designer on site, make a wish list of functions, and all involved. the "ideals" for anything are the ones that suit the available space, and function you require.

I agree. It sounds like the gathering island will be let's see....at least 10 feet. You must have a big kitchen.
