Tudor add-on, add-on, add-on HELP!

We just purchased our future retirement home on a lake in Northern Michigan and need desperate help with the direction to take with this home. Originally a log cabin then covered in stucco, then an addition of a garage and kitchen in the front. The worst part is the view in the back. It looks to me like they plopped a box on top and called it done. The roof will need to be replaced soon so I am wondering if there is anything we can do with the roof lines that would make it look less "pieced together". Also not a fan of the tudor style so looking for suggestions we can do immediately with limited funds since we essentially put everything we have into the purchase price. When we can finally retire and live in one home we will be able to spend more money but don't want to do something now only to tear it out and do something else...Trying to take baby steps and do things right the first time

Sure looks like someone borrowed a piece from another house and added it to an existing structure. I'm no fan of the Tudor elements, and would probably paint the timber the same color as the rest of the siding. And landscape the area to the left of the entry. Remove the shutters. Looks like a lovely lake setting.

More than worrying about the exterior of your "retirement home"--be sure you have a bedroom on the main floor.

Oh for sure! There are currently three small rooms down which eventually we will turn into a master and a guest. We are so grateful to have found a home that has a down master. Thanks for your response!

You may want to consult with an architect about the roof line. In the meantime, the first thing I would do here is to paint the whole exterior. That will do wonders for making it seem cohesive. A nice greyge color would work well with the stone bottom at the rear of the house. Paint the garage the same color as the house so it doesn't stick out visually as much. I would paint the front door a bright contrasting color (red for example) to draw attention to it.

Definitely paint the brick and the upper white stucco the same color. Are you keeping the shutters? If so, they should be repainted probably in a darker shade of greige. You would want to add shutters to the lower window as well to keep consistent. Or lose the shutters altogether.

Enlist an architect or proper designer. You need a cohesive plan exterior and interior.

Agree landscaping is desperately needed to the left of the 3 season room. Not opposed to removing shutters AT ALL. Painting is going to happen almost immediately because stucco needs to be sealed. Would love some color ideas that match the brown brick and Ideally Id like to leave the brown trim aside from the "tudor" slats on the wall faces. Should I leave them brown or paint over them?

Shutters should be sized to close & cover the window, so take them all off. Find a neutral, a taupe or warm grey that works with the brick front, mortar and the stone on the back. If the tudor trim cannot be removed without showing damage to the stucco, paint the tudor trim the same as the body of the home. Changing the roofline sounds awfully expensive, too bad they didn't just add a full 2nd storey.
