Help decide which backsplash for kitchen

Hey all!

im deciding between doing plain white subway tile vs marble subway tile.

My cabinets are white shaker and I'm going to change the hardware to chrome cup pulls.

The counter tops will be a Carrara quartz.

if you wait until the countertops are in, you could bring in some carrara tiles to see how they work. sometimes they look ok. look into doing some sort of lighting over your window for some visual interest (it doesn't have to be this big blue one! you could do a simple sconce)

navy or any blue would look great. so many great tiles to choose from, and you have the perfect backdrop for it. even a pale blue is pretty.

I would also bring in some wood shelves to help lend some warmth to all of that white. do you have room near the window?

if doing a marble look-alike on counter, then no real marble splash. they seldom go well.

you should wait until the countertops are in before deciding. bring home some samples and see how they look next to the counters and the cabs. you will have a lot of different tones of white, including your walls, so choosing a white subway is probably going to add a 4th tone of white to the mix. That's a lot of white. Going to look like a OR!

why not try something w/some color or even a gray?

I love Beth H's gray idea. And I also agree with suzyq that white would be better than marble. I think it would be tricky to match carerra quartz with marble tile. The chrome cup pulls sound lovely. Would you ever consider something bolder, like navy, for the backsplash?

since the electrical is already there, it's easy enough to run it up above the window and stick in 2-3 sconces. would really look good . it's a cute kitchen. nice original cabs.
