I do not feel the dark brown wood around the fireplace is the most complimentary and changing that would desirable: therefore effecting your flooring choice.

Think big picture.

If the only two choices are light hardwood or grey stain, I would choose the light natural wood. I think grey floors are a trend that will be dated soon.

However, I think your stones would look lovely with a medium tone, slightly reddish stained hardwood; about the tone of the current owners' coffee table, in fact!

I think the architecture of this place would look really good with a mid-century modern or Scandinavian style. Light wood floors, light and bright would look wonderful with all the light. It would make the architecture pop too.
