Around 65" flat LCD wall mount decor

I don't like clutter looking pictures around the TV.. I'm looking for a sleek look with 1 object on both sides.. Any ideals on what?

That would depend on tv console, wall color, etc. Could you please post a photo?

well I just closed on the house today so I don't have a pic of the TV mounted.. I can tell you that I plan on painting the room French light gray from Sherwin Williams.

Will there be a tv console? Do you have a picture of that?

well I do have pics of the wall just in 2 Different shots.. The pink curtains will go and if you have suggestions on colors for curtains that would be great.. To describe the furniture I am putting in I bought a dark brown leather sectional that will sit next to the window and curve out.. The coffee/end tables are black and under the TV will be a black stand (I will post picks) and behind the sectional will be a narrow tall table with 2 chairs..
These are the other items going in..
The Tv will be mounted on the wall with the stand under it.. (The led lights will not be on)

Beverly I like the top pic you showed.. Simple and clean.

Don't put curtains on a bay window like this. They look stupid. I f you are going for a clean simple look go for shades or blinds.

where do you get those window pillows? You have to make them?

Kettleman Grey that you saved would be great behind your tv. Are you planning to keep the stained wood trim in the house?

    "Forest Whisper" by Allison Pearce

wow that looks great.. What is that below the 2 picks? a rug? The wood trim I'm having a difficult time with. I know white trim looks much better. I probably go with white trim. You have a suggestion on what color the bay window shades and cushions should be? I'm sorry for all the questions.. Thank you so much.

You can have someone make the cushions for the bay window, but you can buy pillows just about anywhere.

I'd go a lot slicker with the coffee table and dining table.

You ask all the questions you have, Jo. That's the whole idea!!

What kind of sectional did you get?

Did you select a black marshmallow sectional? Hard to put enough light in a room that has such a large black hole created by this sectional.

Here is a sectional from the same company.

I don't know why the sectional looks so black in the picture. When we looked at it in the store it was much more lighter brown.
oh, and the reason why we went with a darker color is because we have 2 boys and one is 5yrs old..

Okay, so that is another good reason not to go with those square black tables. They are too dark for your sofa, and the corners are too square/sharp for your 5 year old.

How about this.. Matching cornerless coffee table, end table and tv stand.. Tv stand is about 8" shorter than the TV so maybe a matching vase on each side of the TV stand with a picture on each side of the TV..

Still would need a color for the shades and cushions for the bay window..
again sorry for all the questions.. This is the first house i have owned and want it to look nice inside on a budget..

You really want the TV stand to be longer than the TV, so if the first one posted is - then go with that one. Keep that vase in mind though, it is nice.

Do you really want a black coffee table with a black sofa?

Inspiration. Notice this picture uses blue and white:

This uses green with B&W curtains. Notice the tables and chair:

I forgot your sofa is dark brown.

    How about this..

Sorry, yes that was a rug above.

Ok, I don't have to get that sectional. I Originally was thinking couch/Love combination.. I have a bad back so I liked the 'marshmallow" feel and a electric recliner (recliner a must) with drink holders.
I will get it painted and go from there.. I will also get measurements..

After I get it painted/measurements should i start another post or just come back to this One? since it has developed into more than just the TV..

Come back to this one. Otherwise people will continue to post on this one AND the new one.

quick question.. Since I am painting this wall that the TV will be on a darker color do I continue that darker color on that side of the hallway? or do I just paint that wall and stop at the corner of the wall/hallway?

Paint that wall only and stop at the corner of the wall/hallway.

Yes, just paint that side of the wall only.

I'm to the point where I have to decide to keep the wood trim or paint white.. Painting the room French grey with a matching darker grey for the TV wall.. What would you all suggest? if I'm going to paint the wood trim I need to primer it before I get started painting.
oh, and the hallway doors, too paint or not to paint matching trim white? (2nd pic)

I wouldn't paint the trim. It's a big job involving sanding before the priming before the painting. Gray goes well with this color and I'm (amazingly!) getting tired of all the white trim. Also, w/ flat doors painted white, they will look VERY plain as you are covering the texture of the grain.

Yes I decided not to paint them.. I have spent the past week prepping the walls (I have ocd when it comes to how smooth my walls are). Kitchen had wall paper on one wall so I removed it as well.. I will be spraying paint on Monday or Tuesday so I will get back with you all.. Thank you
  • 9 years ago
Well this is now what im working with.. Any ideals far as table decorations and pictures for the walls? I plan to put a corner fish tank left of the TV in that big open spot..

jansgirl thank you so much for the shades ideal.. They was expensive but look fantastic.
oh ya I added recess lights as well..

looks good Jo. TV is a bit high. should be lowered about about 8-12". yes, really. Should be eye level as you're seated, not standing.

you said you were painting the trim? good choice. that wood tone clashes badly w/your wall color. Paint it all a nice, bright glossy white and watch how beautiful it matches your white furniture. Use a the white straight off the shelf, don't have it tinted. try BM Advance in a semi gloss or gloss. Make sure the wood is cleaned first. if it feels a bit rough, give it a quick sanding w/a sanding block/sponge in a med-fine grit. clean well, then paint. you'll get a much better looking paint job. you don't have to do the baseboards, but for the eye level wood I would do it.

yes, I would do the entire hallway as well. that wood trim is too small and doesn't even go w/the carpet. It especially doesn't work w/the gray paint. Been there for 50 years,,,time for some paint! However, are you, at any near time, replacing that carpet? the reason I'm asking, is if so, you could just remove those baseboards and get the taller white ones

also, grab the gray outlet and switch plate covers to replace those white ones. it will blend w/your gray wall. Lowes/HD have them

Those white tables look really good. I agree, the trim needs to be painted and the TV lowered.

Well I decided to keep the wood trim beforr i started to move in the furniture. I know white trim looks nice but everyone has it. The wood trim after a few days looks pretty good with the color choices.
Anyways lets talk pictures and colors of other decor items.. I was thinking about kiwi green custom shape pillow in the bay window (like the pictures jansgirl showed) or possibly a different color? suggestions?

Jo, Is your bay window at seat height? It looks higher. Either way, with the sofa right up against the bay, I wouldn't do cushions since you can't get back there anyway. My favorite answer is to put several of the same upright houseplant in a row there. (the more kiwi in color the better)

I really like the picture shirlpp post above w/the green pillows. You don't need more than a pillow or two of the green and where they have used black in the pix go brown or dark charcoal gray.

I really like to look at fish tanks but you know that some can be quite...ugly. Can you get a taller narrow one?

What's going on with the other wall in the room?

I, too agree w/ lowering the tv. Sorry. :)

Thanks, jansgirl - I was confused as to which kiwi pillow he was talking about.

okay so plants in the window.

    kiwi color pillows..

bit confused what you meant far as "where they have black replace with dark charcoal".. The pillows?

The fish tank will be a hexagon tank that will be 30" tall with stand 60".. (its a narrow tall tank)

I have nothing on my wall as of now anywhere.. I have a very large wall (i will post a pic tomorrow) that i will need to do something with as well.

I WAS referring to the pillows, Jo!

So once the fishtank is on the stand it will be 60" tall? Sounds wonderful. Freshwater or salt?

Etsy is a great source for pillow covers. I'd think any of these could work for you.

    gotcha on the pillows..

Yes with stand tank will be 60" tall and i have not decided salt or fresh.. Salt is more work but way more color... If i went with fresh i would put in chinchillas (think thats thr name of the fish)
