Many people do this every day. I have chosen not to have eat in space in my kitchen because we always eat in the dining room. I haven't died yet from carrying food in there!

I think I'd be more concerned about the sink and stove being 12 feet from the refrigerator. Where is your prep area? How far is the table from where you store your dishes, and from where you plate food (if you plate in the kitchen) or from where you fill the serving dishes? And from the dishwasher?

Hmm. That seems far to me and I'm wondering if your layout needs some improvement. I assume since your original plan is a galley kitchen that you're not starting with a gigantic house?

Thank you for the input. Definitely would like to change the layout but budget is restricting us. The desire for an open living space is going to trump the more compact work triangle. It'll either age us or keep us young! Time will tell! (-:

Why don't you post your plan? There might be good solutions to your space you haven't considered. It would be unfortunate for you to invest your resources into a project that isn't the best it can be.
