Thoughts on the overall setup? The end tables were handmade by my grandfather in law from Argentina...trying to make them work in a small space. Also-- any thoughts on the tv wall? Leave it bare? We are wanting to invest in some abstract art. Lastly--- thoughts on some long sheer panels? Thanks again!! So nice to have some fresh eyes!

I know it sounds cliche to say you should consider some new window coverings because we offer window coverings but they really could add some texture and conservative color to your room. Each window is like a large canvas and you could really make a wonderful backdrop and be less busy than metal blinds. Another consideration would be to purchase some affordable toss pillows that stand out on the couch and tie them in with an affordable area rug as well as some accent painted walls. The ceilings are tall and the windows are huge so you really could afford some color. A nice gray could compliment the cream couch and set the room off more. New Hardware on the cabinets is also affordable as well as a custom tile/glass backsplash after you tie down your color scheme! Good luck. Hope we helped!

I would love to get rid of the blinds! But unfortunately we are renting, and move often! We'll be here 2-3 years. Since we entertain clients, I'd like to get it looking as good as possible! So options are somewhat limited..but I really like the idea of a soft grey color on the windows. Your ideas are so helpful; ill definitely check your site out!

No problem - Renting can be challenging to design around. I assumed you had purchased my apologies. We do own a couple other properties and often my tenant will volunteer to do things within my rentals, of course approved and we negotiate reduced rent for a couple months. Depending on their ownership situation and with out dumping too much money into the place you might be able to develop a win / win for yourself and them while having an inviting place to entertain in! Sleek roller shades would be affordable and clean looking. They also would be a safer product than having all those cords from the metals... selling feature for person you rent from. ;) Linen textures and raw silks with a small catch in them are very organic and rich as well as being easy to decorate around. When your entertaining you can just roll them up and enjoy your view with your guests and have no obstructions what so ever. Also a contrasting lighter gray along with the texture might work well. Gray is extremely classic and so are the organic textures... combined; your sure to have a great pallet to place red accessories or whatever colors you want to introduce. Personally we have a set of toss pillows and accents for all 4 seasons and it makes it fun as we entertain a lot. Everyone always comments on the fresh look. When we get tired of them we sell the whole set on craig's list. Paint on the wall if you are allowed is a momentous step in decorating so if you can do that you will get the ball rolling on bettering your lifestyle. I would move your ottoman into the empty dining room to enjoy those views, creating an untraditional small seating area there for more guests (think of it as "museum/gallery" seating!). A nice, large green plant in a large pot would warm up that area too. I can't really see your end tables but from what I can tell, they look really interesting. If they are matching, could they be placed side by side to use as a coffee table? Buy a new end table and put that beautiful mother of pearl lamp on it that carolins suggested. I would put an arc floor lamp that kelly suggested over by the tv in lieu of the end table there. Frame that pretty rug and hang it on the wall in your breakfast area where your art sculpture is hanging to add color to that area. I would add a seagrass or jute rug in front of the couch for texture. I noticed a nice little counter in your kitchen next to the fridge and I would put one of the living room lamps you have now on the countertop. It would be so unexpected! I love lamps in a kitchen for cozy lighting. Keep an open mind....Look carefully at all the things you have in your home and try to imagine them repurposed in new and different roles.

I would definitely get rid of the ottoman. The little rug is cute but too small, put it somewhere like the entry way if that is appropriate. I like the uniqueness of the end tables and the sentimental tie but I don't like the lamps, they are too low and squat there. I would opt for taller lamps. I would get a sleek glass coffee table. Now the important thing is the colors. THe furniture is so neutral, you have many options. Look at your wardrobe for your favorite colors. I tend toward aqua, turquioise and golds but if you are into orange or blues you should go with what is best for you. Get gorgeous throw pillows in your chosen colors. Get lamps that are either a metalic finish or the color of your pillows.

Or the rug on the dining room wall and the metal sculpture above the TV.

The bookcases look good in the kitchen area. You could display nicer things in it, in stead of the file boxes. Only put items on those shelves that you absolutely love, that have memories for you, that you can tell a story about. If you entertain clients, I would move your beautiful wedding photos to a more private spot in the home, like your bedroom.

I'd buy new smooth doors for the kitchen, white for example (upper cabinets!), grey metallic, or more bold like coral or teal, or even completely black, maybe natural oak or maple, stainless bar pulls (sorry, so many ideas). Look for a white round table with tulip chairs (or similar). Matching bar stools. Other table lamps in the living area. A rug in a color like the kitchen doors or chocolate, to match with the ladder bookcases.

Looks great, makes me want a cocktail!!! You might need a few lamps and/or a floor lamp. Some end tables to set drinks and lamps on. If you had a different coffee table then the rug would work under it.

It would be nice to have an extra chair to use when you have guests. Something modern. That sling back is nice or something like attached.

Blinds: that's a great concept, but is the size easily adaptable? I mean, if you can take them when you move, you'll need the same sized windows in your new place? Or not?

Love apt. You have done a great job. Could add stainless modern ceiling fan replace ugly lite. Open all blinds. Great view. Add a more colorful art picture to wall in dining area.

I would also move the TV onto the wall if at all possible. It will allow you to swivel it toward the dining/kitchen or living.

Yes love rug art on wall I was talking about take pic so we can see. Do you own apt or rent. That would determine, window covers etc. I like windows as is. Don't like sec turned next to door.like better the way it is in first photo. Better for TV too. I would replace ottoman with either glass round coffee table or zebra print ottoman. You have no patterns going for interest.mix it up.

Ok I like sec turn to TV by corner window. Best so far. You get view and TV. TV looks better in that corner.

I would also change dining table to round glass 36" 4 tall back leather chairs in a color. Pier One has some nice ones in Teal.you have a lot of dark wood going on.

I love the coffee tables and like how you've placed them in front of the sectional.
However, I do think I prefer the previous layout, but as we can only judge that from a photo and we're not in the actual space, you're the best person to judge how this feels. And you said that you prefer this, so... :-)

i quite liked your original layout. very creative use of space. i do think u can remove the ottoman altogether. end tables or coffee table, not both. and in the dining, the bench / ottoman can be upgraded. longish along the window like a window bench. longish table to go in front of it and two chairs as is. maybe stools with casters and backs so they can also move to the kitchen island when required. no need for four. big furniture is sometimes good in a smaller place i have seen. rug - add one more of the same or similar size as it gives a little pop to the place. only suggestions :) its all so personal :))

When you say color are you talking about wall paint? You have a cream sectional. Anything will work. Try black, silver with just a pop of red. Or turquoise works well too. The view is your art. Play off it. Furn is good. Pull up blinds. Don't cover windows. Just renting don't spend money. Where you have ladder bookcases. I would remove put a mirrored glam bar.Z Galleries has it. With a tall piece of art. Contemporary . Over bar. Go crazy with color. Do you have Z Galleries store near you? If so the best when it comes to your glam, look. Art work to die for. Go big and dramatic .see comments on table for dining. Pier One.

Add zebra throw on sofa. If you have empty corner. Add a palm silk in ceramic pot. Use black or sliver. Get black tray for coffee table just one side. Add a tall orchid fake, they look real. Add some small shiny type objects. Again Zs. Easy to glam it up. Also where ugly lite in ceiling add a black and silver, drum shade in black. Since its for effect and not hanging over anything?? Drop down so it's approx 7ft from floor. Will really make room. Keep old lite so you can take chandelier. Make it big 24" across .

In ding area. Is there carpet too? I usually don't put rug over rug. But to define the area, put a zebra. (Really it's very glam. ) rug round. I can't tell if you have room for a 8 ft.?

Add some plants in big ceramic pots to deck. Stage that area, it's like part of your room. A couple of chairs if room. People love to go out to see. View. Great that you have that.

You don't need that bench in dining area. Put in bedroom or office. If keeping table get new chairs in Teal or red leather high back.Pier One. I don't like knobs on kit cabinets. Long pulls in brushed nickel. Are best.more modern. Lowes has some nice ones at good price. These can get pricey.

Find a nice piece of colorful art to hang over the sofa. You'll know it when you see it. Make sure it is to scale and fits between the window and the door. You're on point about liking the red accents; two red pillows on the sofa would be nice. Also, a one or two live plants will add color to the space. Not trees, but maybe a spider plant on a pedestal table will do.
