Maybe. None of the pictures show the fuzzy, pollen laden back legs. But maybe that depends on what flower they're collecting from?

Could possibly be Melissodes trinodis female...dunno.

I was wondering if it was a honey bee, possibly native variety but at least I know it isn't that. Little bugger wouldn't stay put long enough to get a good shot. :-)

Thanks! The flowers came volunteer from the seed of an ornamental Sunflower we had last year. Giant stalk with multiple headed plant, already seeing the Gold Finches eating seeds from the mature heads.

I'm still thinking Melissodes trinodis for the bee. There have been numerous ones with the long antennae working the flowers.

A little past prime but a lot of flower heads for a single stalk. There were several that started from seed but were starting to shade everything else out so I left just the one. The Cosmos went a little out of control also but beautiful anyways.
