Dawn, just taste one and see. The big cucumbers are "seedy" and the middles are usually softer after being pickled, but I have some big ones this year and they aren't a bit bitter, so I'm being "creative". I'm making LindaLou's 10 day sweet pickles, but I'm going to scoop out the seeds and then make the remainder into spears.

I think yours are going to be fine, mine are bigger than that!

Depending upon the variety of cucumber that Tums might be almost exactly the right size.

I'm pretty sure these are the packet I planted. Instructions don't say what size to harvest them.

For Boston Pickler variety then yes those look too big for ideal sliced pickles IMO. But they can still be used for whole, halves or chunks (like Annie said) if you just trim a bit out of the centers, just too mushy/seedy for slices.

I grow that variety every year and the best picking size for slices is no more than 1 to 1.5" in diameter and no more than 4-4.5" long and still fully dark green. Once the skin begins to lighten, to turn yellow of white they are past picking prime.
