hand pollinating corn, when is it enough?

I'm growing corn in containers and hand pollinating it. I'm not sure when to stop pollinating, is there a sign from the silks that they are satisfied (satiated?). Of is it when the tassels have turned tan and look dried up? Any thoughts on this dilemma? In my case the tassels on some stalks looked like they have stopped producing pollen, but I continue to use pollen from adjacent container stalks, and not sure how long to carry this on.
