The 2nd one is possibly a Ranunculus sp. - Buttercup.

Which ones do you not know. There are quite a few things in there. Get a closeup from about 6 inches away. And do you know what a dahlia is?

A "weed" is a plant you do not want growing where you do not want it growing. The people at your local office of the Cornell Cooperative Extension Service may well be your best source of information.

Ok dahlia yes I think so The large one lying flat is different I'll try to get a better photo tomorrow.

For the person who thinks I don't know what a weed is: telling someone that a weed is something growing where they don't want it is 1) condescending 2) annoying 3) useless I know some of you are regulars but my advice is don't condescend.

I say prop that baby up! Also, just want to say it seems a little silly to bring up the old weed/not.a.weed debate in the Weeds forum, lol. My thinking is, it's subjective, so I'm assuming this forum is for anyone who at any given time feels they have a "weed" they would like to discuss?

I'm watching someone's house, and while I know many plants I don't know Dahlias. I was weeding and certainly didn't want remove a plant they look forward to seeing when they get home!! I will tell them it needs staking! They are new gardeners and will appreciate the input! Thank you I can always depend on you guys
