Here's one from yesterday. I'm happy to say that since I moved my babies into more light, there's more bud activity.

This is 'Pink Devil'--I had to stick a baby food jar in there to hold up the flower in case you noticed the glass :-).

Here's another photo of my Adenium 'Black Window' (wonder if it's the same as 'Black Widow' and there was a typo somewhere along the way). The flower pictured before is on the left and is now much more red. You can see one starting to open on the right. They're a very dark black red when they first open.

Noto that yellow flower is gorgeous! Makes me think of 7up;).

SLD beautiful Adenium:). You're probably right it's most likely a typo:).

I love the Ariocarpus the best tho;).

Haworthia sp. (not clear, leaf shape looks like a cross between cymbiformis and cuspidata), the flower is underwhelming, but this one has much shorter inflorescence than usual, less than a foot.

Mfyss, will the male still be holding pollen when the female is receptive? I can't tell how mature the female flower is.

    Aloebot -

the second to last one? Pachyphytum 'blackberry'

Pedilanthus or common name lucky bird plant.

    Stapelianthus decaryi. Happy :)

    Gymnocalycium friedrichii

For alobot, the female Welwitschia 'seems' mature producing what looks like small drops of glycerine; two male plants produced pollen, though roaches have clobbered one. Can't tell if anything will happen, so far.

Mfyss, I wish you good luck!

    Crassula falcata

It's beginning to get tangled up with some cholla, which I'm not happy about. Later in the month, the flowers will get a more intense red.

    That Noto is beautiful:)!

    last modified: 9 years ago

I agree that the Noto is beautiful. I can never get mine to flower even when I know they have flowered before :-( But Alain, you have the advantage of climate over me :-)

    More:

This flower bloomed more oval than round

This is a very plain Rainbow Burst--oh well, they can't all be eye-catchers.

    Noto

Any you post are eye-catchers in my opinion! They are all so beautiful, makes me want some :)

wow, do I want some of those too! For sure the climate is ideal here for Notos, hot sunny days, cool nights. Enduring wet winters with many morning frosts and very little attention from me! Somehow this one has been a sure thing year in and year out. No such luck with many others though ;(

Thank you Rina, I think the same about the plants you grow--my Echeverias don't do well for me at all. Yet Dave is only 50 miles away from me and his do great???????

Alain, in summer we have hot days, cool nights, tons of sunshine, but the similarity ends there--we have some below zero days here in winter. The trouble with the hybrids is that they aren't that pretty of a plant and the flowers only last a day. But I'm totally addicted. My relatives make fun of me for having so many cactus, but they never see the flower display.

Here are some more, that's probably it for August, I see some bud formation, but that may take a few weeks or maybe this is it for the year.

And I'm throwing in this one as a bonus--not a flower, but equally beautiful. It's my neighbor's horse; my other neighbor let's it graze to keep the weeds down.

Everyone's bloom are very pretty. :)

I am posting a bloom I missed. This is my punishment for not paying more attention to my plants. My Epiphyllum oxypetalum bloomed for the first time and I didn't even know there was a bud on it. I saw it yesterday when my grandson pulled my shade up. Picture taken from inside. I checked later last night and it still looked like that, I was hoping it might open again. I could kick myself, lol.
