Seal around bathtub

How do you prevent water from leaking underneath the 1/4" spacing around the wall and bathtub edges? Do you lay a trim piece and silicon it? Will that compromise the floors ability to 'float'?

My fear is that the cork cushion will soak up water and swell.

In this installation, the customer didn't want baseboard or a tub strip, so we used clear, flexible silicone caulk around the entire perimeter. We generally want to glue down flooring in the bathroom for the exact reasons you raise in your question. If the customer prefers a floating floor, we accommodate them and try to mitigate the (moisture) dangers the best we can.
