I recently planted two mango trees in each of two landscape islands on my property. My concerns are that the island areas have large stones to keep weeds away and I know that mango trees like mulch. Can I leave the rocks and just periodically spread time release fertilizer or perhaps use fertilizer stakes, or do I need to create a mulch area around the trees then add the fertilizer in those areas? Or, perhaps could I use liquid fertilizer?
