Dear Sami, first of all we may say that cowhides are natural products and the smell could be horrible to one person and could be nice to another. So about odor y should say it is a very subjective subject. If you bought one and you don´t like the smell on it you can try to place it outside and let the air dry it... it should help a lot to remove the intense odor you describe. I´m afraid that if you found this smell on one cowhides you will continue to find it on other cowhides.
