I'm in the process of finding out with an above ground pool. But I put shade cloth over the sides exposed to the sun to protect it. It's still all above ground. I wouldn't trust an above ground pool liner to last long enough down in the ground.

it probably won't last as long on the ground as it would on a pool frame, and it won't last as long as a "real" pond liner.

What will you do when it starts to leak? Will you be able to house your fish and plants until you get some kind of repair or replacement? I'm facing this right now, as our above-ground pool filled with fish and plants is starting to leak.

BTW, I don't think you need worry about chlorine residue. Chlorine doesn't last long--I've always heard that 3 days is sufficient to make treated water safe for fish.

But the gray side would be more attractive than the blue, assuming you have the same Intex faux-tile pattern our pool has.

Had the liner given to us from some neighbors, didn't really know if or could it do the job. thanks for the responses. I'll just pitch it then.
