kitchen opening

We are thinking of reconfiguring our kitchen , removing a lower cpboard and making it a passageway from the kitchen to the eat in kitchen. We currently have to leave the kitchen to get to the eat in kitchen. What is the recommended minimum width of a passageway like that?

I would say no less than 30", since you will probably be carrying things to the table and back.

30" would be tight, I think. 36" is passable. 42" would be better.

The reason I said 30" is that is standard for interior doors, and I also said "no less than."

Thank you! The width of a door makes a lot of sense. While we would like a wider opening, we simply can't affordthe space - very small kitchen. Thank you for all your suggestions.
