Too funny, I wrote an ideabook about yellow and gray that has not posted yet. I say give it a pop of yellow, whether through throw pillows, lamp bases, perhaps a lacquered tray and/or artwork. I think the ideabook should be posting later today or tomorrow.

Might be a different space, but the idea of using artwork for color would work well anywhere!

I agree about the acid yellow. One of my favorite color combos. Also, acid green, & pink are great combos with grey.
