does that door slide open? if so, can you turn the table and put it the long way floating it in front of the door without blocking the open-swing of the door. If the couch position is too close to the table, put couch along left wall and float the chair between the couch and the table somehow.

What is the white boxy thing with mesh inserts behind the dining table.....a heater? If so, I would not block it in any way to allow free flow of air which it requires.
The view outside is quite lovely, so you may consider having that view the focus of the room, with the tv angled to face the sofa/chair area once you choose a layout.
The first week or two in a new place, especially with a young child, can be difficult. Give him a designated area for him to play in, if you can. If you have your boxes labeled, would a low "fort" formed with his toy boxes (and other boxes to be unpacked later) and lined with a quilt or blanket or rug be of interest to him? It's a new home for him, so having his stuff in his special play area may help him settle in more easily.
Meanwhile, the boxes. Move all boxes for your bedroom into the bedroom. Move your kitchen boxes near to the kitchen, but not in the kitchen. Your kitchen essentials should already be in the kitchen, and you can take your time cleaning or wiping down the cabinets before you stow the rest of the kitchen stuff.
Arrange your son's bedroom now.
Once the boxes designated for other areas have been removed from the main room, you can begin to plan the furniture layout.
The dining area is most convenient near the kitchen. Most of the time, it's just the immediate family at the table. It could be placed against a wall, but leave open space near it so it could be turned to accommodate guests easily.
The living area will most likely include the play area, because young kids want to be near the parent. His area could be defined with a colorfully patterned rug which may provide "roads" for his cars and encourage comfortable floor playing. The rug could be one of those rubber put-together-like-a- puzzle play mats which come in patterns and are soft under small knees. I would give him the area in front of the stationary side of large window wall.
Once the dining and play areas are set, arrange the larger furniture to face the view, and put the tv on a side wall on a console or cabinet, turned to face the sofa. If you have an area rug for the living area, place the front half of all the seating pieces on the rug. Then add the tables, lamps, and other necessities.
You aren't done yet, but now you have somewhere to live while you unpack the rest of the boxes.

Your living area also needs art or posters on the wall, and hopefully you have some colorful things in boxes.
You could give your son the round rug and purchase a larger rectangle rug in a nice color to brighten the adult part of the main room. Color will give the room contrast and personality. Stay away from any more beige. It's a practical place to start but requires color to breathe.

let me give you some ideas though did not feel alot of help was here. many people are reducing things like shelves desks dining room furniture etc. these can be gotten from thrift - always do charity thrift, craigs list and of course restore. i can help you find some rugs that are very reasonable, well under $200 and then i would invest the rest in pillows, i can get you pillow covers or pillows sometimes for $5 or less. this would help bring the room together. art you should try at charity thrift stores too, another option is all the wonderful pieces you can make yourself. if you give me a style or design you like and your colors i can find some things. a budget would really help too. pls note, always look at my prices, i always shop inexpensive.
