Yes, simstress you read my mind! My biggest pet peeve are showers where you can't slide in to start the water and let it warm up. My vote is for a hinge on the right.

I would put it to the left - as you look at the photo. Then you can grab the handle with your left hand, lean in to start the water with your right hand and let it get hot before you get in. We always offset the controls so they can be reached without getting into the spray area, but I think yours are centered. I could not stand the door opening out toward the vanity and coming out into the center of the room.

Whatever you decide, you'll most likely always swing the door into the shower as it would drip onto the floor should you swing it out.

Leave it off.

Hidge on the right. As the first comment pointed out, need to reach in to start the water. very happy with the decision!
