Roots covered in slimy algae

The roots on one of my orchids is completely covered in algae (it's in a clear glass vase). None of my other orchids have this issue so I'm puzzled why this one has so much slimy algae. I wouldn't care but I'm concerned the algae is competing for nutrients because I noticed the growth seems to have stalled and the pseudobulbs have shriveled slightly.

Besides putting it into a solid colored cache pot what else can I do to get rid of the algae?

Put it in a vented pot. It needs air flow so things can dry out slightly, and prevent the conditions that lead to the growth of algae (if you're doing water culture, I can't help ... I don't do WC).

What type of orchid. Where are you? What zone and growing inside or out?

Hard to help as advice differs depending on where you live and how you are growing the plant.
