I think the dining room set can be salvaged. - It's just too "matchy" - replace the table with a modern glass-top, steel-legged one, or replace the chairs with something less clunky.

The couches actually made me laugh out loud! The barstools & the sideboard under the window & tile side table are fine

I would start by taking everything off the walls. Take everything off the top of the cabinets. Take down the window treatments. Take everything off the mantle. Then I would paint the walls a warmer color. Also get an area rug for the furniture grouping.

Yes, everything is from the previous owners. We purchased the condo furnished. We plan on painting perhaps off white or beige. Not sure about what color to re-paint above the fireplace. I was thinking terra cotta but my husband would prefer it more neutral. Thoughts?

Please don't cry. It's not THAT bad. Mostly you need to get rid of stuff, starting with every tchotchke and everything on the walls EXCEPT the rugs. I would keep those, for now at least. If the dining chairs are comfortable, I'd keep them and replace the table as felixgrantham suggests. And those sofas...cover them, please. Simple off-white duck relaxed-fit slipcovers, and new covers for the loose pillows. Or maybe you can flip the cushions to the back and bottom so the couches are plain brown.

You could possibly repurpose the drapes right now. If they're just plain panels, hang them straight using rings and clips.

And if you can paint, a warmer color--really any color--on the walls would help. This should make it more livable till you can do the whole shebang. And look on the bright side: it's going to be a lovely space and give you something to keep you busy for awhile.

cokec, I would rip that paneling above and around the fireplace off. It makes the whole thing look out of kilter. Then just paint the whole wall the same. Later, if you want, you can think about refacing it all the way to the ceiling, but for now I'd get rid of that wood ASAP.
