Thanks for your question. We attached the ladders by drilling holes and sliding the heavy duty rail through. Then we attached the poles on either end with corresponding closet pole holders. We bought two pairs for each end so we could use the solid ends in lieu of a cup. It was a little cumbersome to install, but allows my client to lift and slide the ladders without risk of the pole dislodging.

Thanks for the response. I suppose the trick will be to size the ladder rails so that we don't get a crack. Also it looks like we could use the cup portion of the closet pole kits to hold the curtain poles. My girls are excited about their personal bed spaces.
