Karin, identifying heuchera isn't much different than trying to identify hosta, the differences are subtle and there are many "look alikes". The first one looks like Palace Purple and number four looks like Georgia Peach. Number three could be Carmel. These are my guesses. I hope someone else takes a look. There are other GW members better at identifying heuchera than me but this forum is quieter, hope some else chimes in.

Thank you, sherry, I already tried to find out a few names, but it is not easy. The colors and leaf forms are quite different. But Heuchera are my favourite companion plants for hosta and it would be nice to know what grows in my garden :-)

I have to agree with Sherry :-) I looked at this post when it first appeared but declined to answer because providing accurate ID's is nigh on impossible!! There are just far too many cultivars on the market that look so similar that looking at online photos will just not provide the distinctions that separate one selection from another similar looking one. And European varieties are not always the same (or labeled the same) as those available here in the US.

Her guesses are pretty good.......but are just guesses :-)) I would say that #5 & #6 look like Green Spice or Peppermint Spice or even Ginger Ale (less likely). #7 looks like a heucherella and Sweet Tea is a possibility.....or Buttered Rum :-))

Thank you, gardengal48, I had a lot of trouble when I wanted to have my hosta identified, now I see it is going to be the same with the Heuchera.

What matters most is that I really like them and they brighten up the garden, so I post just a few pictures for fun now...

I can pretty much confirm that the third photo from the bottom IS Green Spice :-) It is by far my favorite heuchera and I have grown many of them in various gardens and containers plus spec it out for design clients.

While it is always nice to know what plants you have, IME, NOT knowing makes no difference to one's enjoyment of them! After more than 40 years gardening and even as a professional horticulturist and garden designer, I have come to the conclusion that accurately ID'ing every single cultivar is difficult and frustrating if they do not come with an accurate label and really not all that important in the grand scheme of things. I no longer pay much attention to the names of any hostas I purchase or even the other cultivars of heuchera - I purchase them because I like their looks or they fit with the colors/design I have in mind. Same thing with the zillions of named roses, dahlias and daylilies......unless you are a breeder or hybridizer, who cares?

About the only plants I keep track of are my collection of Japanese maples and clematis. But even some of their ID's have drifted off into the passage of time :-))

Very well said, gardengal, names are not important. They are beautiful and I will surely get more over the years, with or without tag does not really matter. It is only helpful to organize my pictures :-)

First one to flower is always this chute little Tiarella...

I have Green Spice, and agree with Gardegal, looks like a good match to me too!

Karin, you have a beautiful collection!!

Number 7 sure looks like Heucherella "Sweet Tea". Number 4 looks like Heuchera "Ginger Peach". Number 3 looks like Heuchera "Fire Alarm". Number 5 looks like Heuchera "Glitter".

The last one peachy color looks like Southern Comfort. Caramel is the small look alike Southern Comfort. It is the one you did a long shot and close up of the leaves. That is one that I would say I am certain.

Caramel has smaller leaves and Southern Comfort the leaves are big.
