Bath vanity sets yes or no?

I firmly suggest to my clients that bath accessories are just as important to the overall design of the room-- do you agree?

I agree but not necessarily all matchy matchy! BTW I use that big pot by the bath for hiding all the shampoos! (On a recessed edge out of danger of breaking)

I'm not a minimalist by far, but I believe in having only what you need displayed. It needs to be attractive and useful.

It is so very tempting in the bed/bath stores to buy all matching accessories. They display them so nicely. My cup, soap dispenser and toothbrush holder (which I actually use for makeup brushes instead) all match. The matching garbage can is in the powder room because while pretty, it turned out to be less than useful. I also have three clear glass apothecary jars on the countertop, with cotton balls, q-tips and bath salts in them.

Kimdee! I have glass apothecary jars too! Cotton balls, q-tips and makeup sponges! Great minds think alike, don't they?

    They do indeed, bobbi!

I like bath accessories to match or be complimentary to each other. Sometimes it is practical, other times not.

not a big fan of matching accessories or furniture. owners suite bath has a mix of silver, crystal and cut glass. guest bath accessories are a mix of artist made ceramics and iron pieces.

Nope...no matching sets. We just remodeled our bathroom and I was tempted to purchase a matched vanity set but I realized like the other commenters that I wanted less on my counters plus my trash can is under the sink. Ended up with a soap dish only and, oh...yes (!) my apothecary jars are there too :-)

Looks nice!!! Half of my clinets like sets and half dont. I think its more of an age thing

@Kenneth Crawford Interiors. Which age group likes the matching sets? The younger or the older?

it's a nice idea but sometimes it just doesn't work. you can't quite "accessorize" your WaterPik :) and if your counter space is limited because your bath used to be a linen closet :) you just do the best you can..i have a clutter gene that I fight every day!!!

The age group I find is above the age of 50 ---however, I have found people in their 20s and 30s having vanity sets. it is all about the look to have a nice bathroom

Oh olldbobbi and mousemaker, never leave those instruments showing--hide them always

Kenneth, no worries, we were joking :))

not gonna happen :) sorry :) no place to put it. don't use a hair dryer though, can't stand them.

Our electric toothbrush, shavers, and hair dryer go under the counters. We had outlets installed under there so rechargeable things can be plugged in and out of sight. The first time ever we can be clutter free.

great idea crickhollowmd--I have done that

Offended by that over 50 remark. At age 56 I would never even consider a matching vanity set or matching suite of furniture. Both demonstrate a lack of imagination. Same goes for matching necklace and earring sets!

Trousernell, If you like to mix things up that's great however, most clients prefer the beauty of everything matching. It has nothing to do with lack of imagination but satisfying a clients needs.

Perhaps not, but it definitely has nothing to do with age.
