Great architectural interest in your home. I would trim back the existing landscape especially the one covering the window on the right side. A tall evergreen specimen needs to be placed in the corner to the left where the roof drain is. Depending on your zone an Italian cypress, sky pencil, are a few types. Other than that the house has a great interesting curb appeal. Keep it simple and let the house make the statement. Best wishes!

Could you post more photos from further back, and on sides? That will help us see the landscaping that exists. Right now I can only see part of it. Built a similar house and landscaped it from dirt, it was beautiful! Your house is so dramatic, it definitely needs the right landscaping!
It's hard to advise without knowing what it looks like from further away, lot size,and especially the ZONE for plant and shrub suggestions. If you don't know the zone, what is the state/provide you are in?

I would want a big walkway to the doorway from the front, flanked with flower beds. This is a grand house that needs the balance of a more substantial landscape design. But for all I know, there's actually a river or woods on this side -- need to see more of the lot and how it's situated.

There is an awful lot going on in the corners as far as overgrown trees. I want a clean look without being too bare. We are on a wooded lot in midstate IL

I think you need a great landscape designer for both your hardscape and landscape. You have a wonderful home that needs the overgrown shrubs trimmed back substantially and a good overall plan so you showcase your contemporary home.
