What kind of wood is the fence made from?

The fence is made of Ipe.

A quick question on the wood size. Did you use that 2X4 or 1x4?

We're pretty sure it was a 1x product. Ipe is very heavy, about 5 lbs per square foot. on a 1x product (3/4" finished). Using 2x material would easily double the weight, making a project like this more difficult than it needs to be.
