A countertop edge will not set the style for the kitchen.

You are just getting the new kitchen jitters - so many decisions - and there are many right ways to do many things - not just one right way.

Relax - as best you can. I love the hood - that will be a focal point and really set the tone for the kitchen.

It's a great looking edge - both aesthetically and technically (the work it took to create it). You are seeing a kitchen that isn't finished. It's kinda like seeing the bride with hair only half styled and only half her make-up on. The in-between stages are always a fright!

Deep breath and promise yourself not to go back until something else has been installed. You have some great choices here. Believe in the FINISHED product and ignore the process.

You have a beautiful kitchen. I love the beveled edge on the counters. Very nice choice. In love also with the range hood as well as the choice you made for the backsplash. I would use a longer than normal subway tile unless cost difference is too much.

@ sandradclark I was toying with the Idea of going with the longer pieces. Is there a reason to go with a longer one vs the standard 3x6?

sink counter and island counter both came from book matched slabs. Lighting for the kitchen is not completed yet.

I thought the counter top edge made the kitchen appear more modern. Since we've installed the appliances the kitchen is looking much better. Just need to adjust the lighting, add backsplash and paint. I like the look of white subway tile but still undecided as to herringbone or stacked and what size to go with. Paint will probably be a light blue/grey color to compliment the veins in the quartzite.

I have to say this Houzz discussion forum is amazing! What a resource!! I'm feeling much better about the decisions I've made and I'm looking forward to getting back to normal (3 kids and no kitchen is not ideal ;) ) thank you everyone for providing their insight and feedback!! The hood is a vent a hood jdh236 c2 from their designer series with optional banding, rivets, bottom lip and pot rail. Flooring is by elios. And is a wood plank porcelain in their sequoia line

Personally, I think the polished Carrara works better with the other aspects of your kitchen!

My vote between the two, the marble stacked. It would be good if possible to include a photo further back showing the two tiles with the floor tiles and cabinets in the same photo. By the way, beautiful kitchen.
