The floor throughout my family rooms iis cream, 18" sq. travertine. My husband and I are planning to remove the existing surround and replace it with a different material. Currently there is no hearth, a narrow mantel and white legs enclosing the surround. What material and color should I use to replace the surround and what type hearth should I use? Keep in mind the ENTIRE first floor is travertine and the family room and kitchen create a wide open space.
