pendant overload!

We just had these installed and are going to be replacing them as they are scorching hot and one actually broke in half and fell to the counter after being on for about 30 min! Question is, do we stick with the 5 or reduce to 3 and fill the inside 2 spaces with directional lights? Island is 7.5 ft by 3.5 ft.

Fewer would probably be better. Posting photos taken from further away with the entire island showing would help to determine the best number and placement.

yes, a pic from farther back would be helpful.

do 3 pendants (Or 2 large ones, or a large chandy, or one long pendant,,etc) placed over the middle of the island. I've never seen 5 done like that.

I wonder if that glass was annealed properly. I would remove them and select something different and get my money back on those. I love the glass color and shapes but not the exposed transformer boxes and danger of exploding glass.

That is way too many. The only place pendant lights belong is over an island. And in situation there should only be 2 or 3 (depending on the length of the island and the size of the light). Any other areas in the kitchen should be lit with recessed lighting.
