Diatmaceous earth is a good and safe treatment for insects. Much safer than chemical insecticides.

Glad it's working for you. Boric acid is rather harmless though, as pesticides go.

I have all wood floors. No area rugs at the moment, although those'll be coming shortly. I have some pets. I'm guessing that it wouldn't work for me to put DE down on my floors, right? Because then the pets and we would just be walking through it for a couple of weeks?

20 Mule Team Borax will work fine on floors. Vacuum it up after two weeks.

Borax is not the same chemical as boric acid, so I'm not sure that it would have the same effect as boric acid in terms of killing insects. And it's still powder that the pets would be walking through, but not as safe as DE (which is basically sand, chemically speaking).

I'd put the DE along baseboards and places even the dogs don't walk. If the bugs are moving around they'll hit it eventually.

My vet was the one that recommended it and it worked very well. She preferred that to flea chemicals because Borax isn't dangerous for pets or children even if eaten.

Borax has the same action of dehydrating the insects. One other reminder is to repeat the application to catch any insects that hatch after the two weeks.

Make sure it is food grade d.e. There is another used for pool filters and probably other things but you want food grade if using around pets.
