Not something you'd have to be done before listing, but it will probably be caught by the buyer's inspector. Do you have a realtor yet? Many good realtors have a good handyman's phone number. This could well be a handyman job.

I think many blind stores have repair shops and I'd do it as soon as you can.

Not a big deal but an experienced shopper might think that if simple fix is not dealt with, what major repairs are also neglected. Part of making your nest is installing blinds or drapes to ones liking, which means there's a 50/50 chance existing blinds will be history but what if seller spends money on the house and little left for prettying it up? They have to live with what's there.

its not the aesthetics of it, it's the "maintaining house" aspect. You are right, blinds no biggie and fixing them isn't either.

Hmmm. Must be a regional thing. Here, you get an empty house with a stove, refrig, and maybe washer/dryer, and thats about it (I also got a lot of empty booze bottles and assorted other nasty trash left behind - 22 garbage bags full to be exact.... but thats a story for another time!)

Sounds like an easy enough fix though so that would be the thing to do, fer sure.

Hahaha there must be a rule book a certain number of sellers are using as guidance that says "you must not leave too many fully functional window blinds in the place for the buyer", on another page they could see instructions to leave clogged drains and lie about the dishwasher working but if caught follow up with a lie about filing a warranty claim for it.

One of our sinks was clogged and the plumber removed a small animal sized amount of hair, so much that if it was turned into yarn I could knit a dog sweater with it all. I'm a blonde, the mister wears his hair high and tight, but the seller and her daughter have dark hair that looks like a cleaner version of what came out of the drain.

But what really pissed me off is discovering they lied about the functionality and warranty claim status of the dishwasher. I had to threaten legal action after escalating the matter to the seller's agent's boss to get things taken care of.
